Headstone in place

Mom's headstone was placed at the beginning of July.  Graham was able to see it in person.  When we were trying to decide what to put on it, we joked about a bus.  The guy helping us said - I think we have that picture.  Since so much of mom's life was dedicated to the kids on her bus routes, it seemed appropriate.  The other pic is of art supplies.
The phrase at the bottom in french means Never Behind, a motto from the Douglas Clan.

End of an era

By Alicia,

We wanted to let everyone know that we sold mom's house today.
Signing the papers was harder than I thought. We all shed tears over the finalization of our moms estate.

Just thought I would add a picture or two.  Here is the pic from the real estate listing.  It's sort of sad and overgrown.  Charlotte would never have allowed this!!

This house has quite a story to tell under its roof.  I cut my handyman teeth on this house . . .

The projects included:
  • a back door
  • the garage (fully legal with city approval - THAT was a schlepp!)
  • the deck in the back
  • replaced the front door
  • a back gate
  • a side gate
  • a face lift in the kitchen - followed years later by a complete gut and replacement
  • complete got and replacement of the back bathroom
  • and a few others
It really is a definitive day (for good or bad or sad) - So long, Murray . . . our root is completely plucked.
