Always Loved to Watch the Game

By Mike

Again, I was digging around looking at photos I have stored on my back-up server when I came across a directory of photos collected all about Charlotte.  I don't know the specific story about this one, save that Charlotte is having a great time watching a BYU football game in person.  Look at that smile.  Anyone who knows Charlotte knows she is a Cougars fan.

Some new favorites

By Sheelagh

It is getting progressively harder to come up with things that mom can eat. For awhile we could give her finger foods that she could pick up or I could put the sandwich-or panini, her favorite, in her hand and she could eat it. Lately, however, she isn't quite sure what to do with it and I would find it in the covers later. SO have had to be creative since we don't always have the time needed to feed her especially in the mornings.

Her new favorite is yogurt "smoothie" it is just yogurt that is milked down so that it is drinkable...I have to say I think I might be making two in the mornings it is pretty tasty! I am home with a sick son today and that is what he is drinking too:)
The other concoction came from when all she wanted was hot chocolate I wanted to find a way to get a little more nutrition in there so I blended it up with some oatmeal. Hot Chocolate drinkable oatmeal???you say? Don't knock it til you try it!

Other than that it is business as usual. She seems a little more confused some days. I told her on Monday morning that school was starting up again for me and she said it was for her too--and last night while dave and I were talking to her we mentioned something about Dave's sister Holly and then when I asked her if she wanted another piece of cinnamon roll she took it and then handed it back behind her and told us she didn't want it but that we should give it to Holly.

Other times she seems quite together and her voice is clear.

1st Christmas as a Grandma

By Mike

I went looking for some old, old computer files (back from the 1990's) to print them out for my son and stumbled across these pictures from Charlotte's 1st Christmas as a Grandma.  This was just after our first child was born.  It was bitter cold the week of Christmas (when these shots were taken) . . . sort of like now for most of the country.  Charlotte took to grand-mothering like a fish to water.

As I remember it, Charlotte called her son in Peru from our little campus apartment - this was back when a long-distance call actually cost some serious coin.

These are precious memories . . . I just wish I had better resolution pics.  These were taken about the same year the first consumer digital cameras made it to market - way too expensive for our starving-college-student budget.  I used a VHS camera and hooked it up to the video card in my computer to get these screen captures.
